Kitty enrichment

​What is enrichment?
Cats can become bored very easily. Enrichment can help! Enrichment's main goal is to improve and enhance a cat's daily life by providing environmental and behavioural stimuli that will satisfy its natural instincts and behaviours! It is a good idea to try to bring a new thing into your kitty's life every day, it doesn't even have to be anything big! *Remember, each new item/experience must be 100% cat safe and supervised!

Enrichment Ideas

• Freeze liquid treats into lickable ice cube treats
• Create access toa new window for kitty to look out
• Let kitty smell things around the house by taking them on a scent tour
• Move and wiggle toys under a blanket
• Give kitty a new treat they have never had before
• Give kitty crumpled up piece of wrapping paper to play with
• Let kitty explore and drink from a slowly dripping faucet
• Give kitty a new empty box
• Make kitty a castle out of boxes
• Teach kitty to give high fives
• Throw kitty's treats around so they can "hunt" them
• Use furniture and items to a create a maze or obstacle course

 

• Use a toilet paper or paper towel tube to make a treat puzzle
• Use blankets or pillows to make a fort for kitty
• Offer kitty cat grass or cat nip (supervised!)
• Play a video of birds on the TV or place bird feeders near windows for kitty to watch
• Hold kitty in front of the mirror to show them what they look like (if they don't start freaking out)
• Toss around a crinkled up receipt or note paper for kitty
• Hide treats in empty kleenex boxes for kitty to get out
• Play with a new wand toy on the ground and in the air
• Shine lasers, flashlight and make shadows on the wall for kitty to chase
• Use a cupcake tin to put toys and treats in for kitty to fish out
